How To Plan My Typical Day at Work- Being Present in My Business

How to Plan my Typical Day at Work is planning to be present and aware

Planning my Working Day means planning to be present

Being Present Every Day is a Primary Part of How to Plan My Typical Day at Work

I continue to learn more and more every day in this blogging business.  I expect that will be a lifelong thing since the internet is constantly evolving.  There is no such thing as just checking in to work and not being very present and aware of all the aspects of my business.  To be in best – and most efficient – form, I know it is important to be aware of how to plan my typical day at work.  I have a schedule of work I follow, and I implement it, day in and day out.

It is a business, so I  treat it that way, even though I'm at home, or on vacation…when I go to work, I'm at work.  And planning my work day gives me the best results- oh, by the way, in the shortest possible time, too.

Consistent Activity in Planning my Working Day

Consistent Activity

One thing my coach taught me early in my blogging career was how important it is to have a consistent plan for every working day

I have a website, and the only reason anyone ever gets to it, is because they found my link.

There is just not any other way for them to come to this site.

That means my link has to be out there for them to find.  Makes sense, doesn't it?

Regular Online Presence in Planning My Working DayRegular Online Presence

For my readers like you to find me, I have to be findable.  That means I need to know how to plan my typical day at work so that I can be consistent with my postings and communications online.

There are several ways I do that, and I do some of each every single working day.

One way, of course, is to blog.

Blogging means writing a post.  The post has to be about something someone somewhere is going to find interesting, or no one will ever read it.

There are 3.5 Billion people on the internet in the world.  The odds are pretty good that if I know a way to solve some problem, there are people out there who will like and try the solution I offer.

It's just numbers. And working the numbers, the odds, is part of how to plan my typical day at work.

So what I do, when I blog, is I identify a problem I know about.  It may be something I have personally experienced.  It may be something I have wondered about.

Creative Mindful Life Design in Planning my Working DayCreative Mindful Life Design

I am very committed to helping people find creative mindful ways to design their lives the way they want to live them.  I believe we all have amazing possibilities we are meant to have and experience in life.

So basically everything on my website comes down to that central theme. And I plan my work day around it.

There are different areas of life that I talk about:  Physical Health and Well-Being, Spiritual Growth and Wellness, Family and Love, Career and Business and Creative Life and Wellness.  They all are aspects to the full life we have.  Each one has its own importance in our Life Design.

It is good to select one area at a time, to chunk it down.  Work on design in that area, then branch out.

I encourage you to sign up for my newsletter in the right corner, and get your Free Ebook on the Law of Attraction.  The Law of Attraction is one of the most important Natural Laws that govern our life.  Cooperating with that Law helps you in your Creative Mindful Life Design.  Do you have a blog?  Are you interested in building an email list?  Go here for a great tool.

Problem or Challenge Identified

Ok, so I identify a life challenge people, including me, have.  And I talk about solutions.  I give you some benefits of my solution, to help inspire you to implement the solution in your life.  I want you to have the life you want, and you can proactively Design Your Life!

Isn't that exciting?

I really encourage you to do that!  You deserve the life you want.  Get that Free Ebook, folks!

Being Found on the Internet Is the Purpose of Planning My Working DayBack to Being Found

There are some really clear techniques to being effective on the internet.  That means your readers can find you.

One of those is using keywords.  I have an article about keywords here.

Effective use of keywords is how the search engines find you and help your readers find you.

There are other activities that help your blog to be found.

Being active online helps.  The activity is not just on your own blogsite.

socialmedia presence is part of planning my working dayBeing active on Social Media is a huge benefit.

Every working day, I go on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google Plus.  It only takes a few minutes, but I post regularly to those sites.

It is part of how to plan my typical day at work…I recently started using a service to help with some of my posts, and that leaves me more time to read and make comments on the posts and boards I like to frequent..

I am not talking about communicating with my community or family.  I am talking about posts for and about my business.

I may put a quote up that I find personally inspiring.  I may put some pictures up of a trip I took or some activity I have been involved in.  I put up updates on my blog so my readers will know I have put something new up that they may want to take a look at. I often put up posts on products I've found that are especially interesting.

Having a blog is about having relationships with my readers.  I want them to know me, and I want to get to know them.

I have great solutions for life challenges.  I want people to see them, to trust me about them and to try them out for their own lives.  I want to make a difference in people's lives!

Commenting on other Blogs is Part of Planning My Working DayComments on Other People's Posts and Blogs

Another technique I use is to be actively involved with other people's blogs and posts.  Every working day, I go to some of my favorite blogs and read and make comments on them.  I spend about 30 minutes each day doing this.

It is not a huge amount of time, but it is an important part of implementing my planning for my working day.  A lot of it is written blogs and a lot is on YouTube.

I learn interesting stuff.  I share with the writer how they have benefitted me with what they wrote.  I may ask clarifying questions.

And you know what, they answer me!

Not only do I get to expand what I know, but everytime I visit someone's blog or Facebook post, I am building my own brand recognition.

When I post on someone else's blog, I leave not only the comment, but put in the URL of one of my own blogs.  That gives me backlinks that help my Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

And that circles right back to what we are talking about- being found by my readers on the big giant internet.

Backlinks help SEO!

Planning my Working Day to Treat It Like a BusinessThis is A Business and I Treat It That Way

I am serious about making a difference in people's lives.  Because I take this seriously, I treat it in a very business-like way.

I have a schedule I follow, with specific tasks to do each and every working day.

Where have I learned- and continue to learn – all this great stuff?  I started out with Wealthy Affiliate.  They do have good training there…BUT out of that, my mentor Bo Tipton and a group of us started a much less costly way to get the training you can get on WA and so much more.  It's only $6.95 a month!  And you can become an affiliate too.

When I first went there, I started checking it out.  I was so impressed that I signed up for the Premium membership within two days.  I knew this was right for me.

Is it right for you?  Check it out for yourself by going here.  Then you will know.

Along with Wealthy Affiliate I have had a coach, who has worked with a small group in a mentorship capacity.  Our group put all his trainings on a special website so others can access it.  Check it out…It's only $6.95 a month!  Amazing stuff!

Hello Annie, isn’t this just the truth of being really present? To know that in each moment we can really see, feel and touch. And yet we run around never knowing that we just missed something lovely. And what a great metaphor to know that in our business we also have to make that commitment to be fully present too. Thanks so much for your insights. IN peace and gratitude, ariel

    • It is fun to be fully present in this business, as in other parts of my life. I, like you, don’t want to miss out on any of the wonders my life is so full of, whenever I take the time to notice and be present with them. That goes for business, too.

  • Brittaney Verkuyl says:

I am getting into the swing of a schedule. I spend between 45 minutes and an hour on my commenting and things then the rest of my day (usually about four hours) on writing posts or editing my current posts. I think my favorite part of my little work is commenting on sites in my niche.

    • Great job, Brittaney. Commenting on other posts in my niche is an area I am expanding in. People have so much great information to share, don’t they?
I am spending probably about 6-8 hours most days, too. Training is something I usually spend an hour or so on, and the blog writing, revising and now Traffic Wave work is all in start-up mode for me still. I believe I will get it down to about 4 hours most days in the future.
For me, the key thing is to treat this like a business, with a set of tasks to be accomplished daily. I see you are doing that, too.

  • Sounds like a good plan. I am trying very hard to do something very similar so thanks for sharing these great tips and how they are working for you.

  • Lisa says:

I didn’t really realize how important social media is to promoting our online business until recently. There are so many things we can do that make a big difference in our success or failure. I think your post hits on many great things to remember. All very important points.

    • Hi Lisa, Social media is definitely with us. It seems some people use it really wisely, and I am learning from some who have developed some very successful ways to build their business. Wealthy Affiliate is full of folks who know what they are doing, and share information generously.

  • David Bishop says:

Your website reflects what you write and I welcome all the tips here in this article. I always believed that the only time to engage with social media is when you make a post on your website. I now see the reason for not getting much social media traffic.

By them getting to know you, I need to be posting different things outside my business. Like you rightfully mentioned. That really does make sense Annie. If people view you as a real person by posting pictures, outings and places you have visited, it can open up your followers to look at you differently than a business person.

I heard about backlinks and thought that that was out the door, now I see that it still does exist and can help my SEO rankings. Will look into this and give it a try cause it is a win-win situation for both parties. I am always afraid of receiving links from other people’s website because it may register as a broken link down the road, what is the best way to gain control over that? Thank you for sharing these tips.

    • Hi David, Thank you for visiting and making your kind remarks. I do get some broken links from some who have commented on my page. I pretty much ignore them. And just fix broken links from within my posts that I have control over. I am not sure what impact they may have on my site. I suspect it may have more impact on the back links for the person who left them. It is a good questions to ask my coach. Thanks for asking. I will check and see what he says.

    Hello Annie,
Great article. You have touched on so many interesting and valid points. The one that stands out for me is the way I treat my business. What might have started off as a hobby has now blossomed into a business and I need to ‘shift into business mode’. Thank you for the tips and I wish you continued success in your online business.
    Michelle

    • Hi Michelle, isn’t it amazing how something you pursue as a hobby becomes a profitable business? It goes to show that doing what we love and want to do aligns with our life purposes. We can really design our lives by following our hearts, can’t we? I love that! For me Wealthy Affiliate is my newest re-creation of my life. We all get to re-create many times in our lives, each time building on what we have done and learned before. I am so glad that is working well for you! Thanks for visiting!

  • Michelle says:

    Great article, Annie.
Yes, you have to create the mindset for your business or you won’t feel grounded in the things you have to do. You are also right, you have to create a schedule and best if sticking to it – one way to ensure you see the results of your effort.
    All the best,
    Michelle

    • Hi Michelle,
I know you agree with this principle of planning, and then executing your plan. Being grounded is so important, especially when you are in a gigantic learning curve, as I seem to find myself all the time as a lifelong learner!
      Thanks for visiting!
      Annie
