Review of Best Equipment to Blend Smoothies at Home

Smoothies are a fantastic way to get nutrients and fiber easily and tastily.  The cost to get them made for you is high, so for many the best way to go is to blend smoothies at home.  Costs of having them done for you are”

  • either a boutique storefront at $7-15 each
  • or sugar-filled ingredients in one you buy at the grocer.

If Smoothies are going to be part of your healthy diet choices, I recommend a blender.  Here are some options for you.

What blender is the best for smoothies you make?

And what is the best bang for your buck, to get the results you want?

It is my intent here to give you the Best Blender Reviews, so you can select the blender that is the best value for you. Blenders are amazing implements for your kitchen.

Not only can you make yummy smoothies, but you can make soups, and sauces. You can crush ice cubes for energizing concoctions. You can even make ice cream.  Surprised?  I certainly was when I learned all a good blender can do.

So what is a juicer and what's the difference?

Good question.

Juicers are handy tools to give you juices only that are easy to digest, without the fiber of the vegetables and fruits and nuts and seeds.

Also, because the fibers are out, they deliver a lot of vitamins and minerals and protein quickly. That's good for a body-builder .

The majority needs a blender, so you can blend smoothies at home that will have the fiber that keeps the hunger pangs away.

Blenders for 2018

When buying a blender, you want something with the oomph to desiccate the ingredients, the capacity to deal with your needs, and the staying power to be worth your investment.

There are some newer less expensive entries to the market. Are they any good? Let's see.

Smoothie ingredients your blender needs to handleKey Considerations

In deciding what blender is the very best, the first step is to acknowledge that a part of the choice is very personal. You need to answer the following questions:

How often will I be using it?

If it is once a week, or a few times a year, you will want a cheaper blender. If you plan to use it every day, perhaps once or twice a day, then its going to be worth spending more money to get one that is made of the best materials to be reliable long-term.

What are you going to use it for?

If you plan to make smoothies, that calls for a more basic blender. If you plan to make hot soups and sauces, you need more.

Will you be blending mostly soft fruits and leafy greens, or will you be crushing ice cubes, hard carrots, and nuts and seeds?

How much will you make when you use it?

-Is it mostly to make personal smoothies or are you going to feed a whole family?

-What's your budget?

Not that you need to spend every possible dollar you have available of course. But you also need to avoid spending more than you can afford, even if you plan to use your blender every single day.

-Where are you going to use it in your kitchen?

This will determine the maximum height if you want to fit under a cabinet. Or if it will be stored in a cupboard, then what is the cupboard capacity?

I will be giving you my top picks for whichever type of blender meets your needs.  If you see one you like and click on the link in the text or on the picture you will be taken to the best price for it on the internet.  You will be able to look at other reviews and even other products when you are there.

If you buy anything using that link, Annie's Tips will earn a small commission, without your paying a penny extra.  Those commissions support this website, and we appreciate your using them when you buy.

The Best of the Best for Doing It All

Without a doubt, the previous best of the best is the Vitamix Pro Series 750 Brushed Stainless Finish with 64oz Container. Vitamix Pro Series 750 Brushed Stainless Finish with 64oz Container

Vitamix sets the standard for blenders, and has the price tag to go with it.

The Pro Series 750 is a part of the Next Generation or G-Series that Vitamix introduced in 2012. The motor for the G-Series is a 2.2 HP instead of the 2.0 HP that was in all previous Vitamix Series.

Recently introduced, at the same cost is the Heritage version. You will find some Pro Series 750's that are not Heritage still online. The difference is that Vitamix has gone back to having an all-metal base instead of using plastic. Please know that it's possible to find refurbished blenders, too, for a lower cost. These are most likely not yet Heritage versions. But the plastic has been used for over 25 years, and has held up well so far.

You can use these for smoothies, soups, nut butters and chopping – indeed for every blender use possible.

The Pro Series 750 comes with a wide and shorter 64 ounce container that give a large capacity and still fits under most counters. It's very effective for blending or chopping 4 cups or more, but smaller amounts will get you splash that you need to scrape to avoid wasting some of it.

The price tag on Amazon is about $600, the lowest price anywhere. The blender comes with a 7 year warranty. Vitamix A-3500

One step above even the Pro Series 750 is the new Ascent Series, with Bluetooth and wireless technology.

The Ascent Series has optional container sizes that you can buy . The wireless technology automatically tells the blender what container size you are using.

The technology will also permit online updates from Vitamix in the future. This is planned but not yet in operation.

The cost of the Ascent 3500 is about the same cost as the Pro Series 750. It has a 10-year warranty.

I recommend this new A-3500 option if you plan to buy a brand new blender that can do everything. If you want a reconditioned one, go with the Pro Series 750.

Smaller Family And Can Still Do It ALLVitamix E310

If the potential of splash and cleanup with the 64-ounce low profile containers is a turn-off for you, but you still want to fit under a counter, look at the new and lowest price Vitamix E310. This blender can do everything the higher priced ones can, but has a 48 ounce container, a 3-inch blade instead of 4 inches.

It doesn't have Bluetooth technology, or  touch pads and programmed functions. It is more basic and comes at 40% of the cost.

This is the lowest price ever for a Vitamix blender, and still has all the great manufacturing that has made Vitamix the best of the best in blenders.

The New Technology, But Fewer Bells and WhistlesVitamix A2300

For this one, I recommend the A-2300. This one is the lower end of the Ascent Series, with no programs, buttons and dials instead of touch pad controls, but all the other technological features and abilities of the Pro 750 and the A-3500, at a cost that is $150 less.

It is really a question of what is worth your paying for, to you. If you want the highest end, then you pay more. You get the capabilities and quality with the lower cost blenders, too.

I Want a Blender for Smoothies on the GoVitamix S30

For personal use and great quality smoothies, as well as soups, nut butters and all the other capabilities, you may want to get the Vitamix S Series. I prefer the Vitamix S-30, without the bells and whistles.

The S-Series comes with two containers, both dishwasher-safe. One is a 20 ounce to take your Smoothie with you, the other is 40 ounces for larger batches. Both fit on the base under most cabinets.

The motor is 2.0 HP, and the warranty is for 5 years.  With this you can blend smoothies at home and then take it with you.

A Contender Vying with VitamixNinja BL610 Blender

There is a contender, made in China, that is vying with American-made Vitamix. Instead of a glass container, they are plastic. There are 6 blades, to mix up a lot of stuff for smoothies.

The reviews state that the $79.99 Ninja BL 610 pictured here is noisy but works to handle the vegetable load as pictured.

Making the Right Choice – For You

What and how much food you are going to make, how often, where you ‘re going to store your blender and what your price range is, will zero in on what blender makes the most sense for you.

I hope this best blender review helps your choosing a blender, for your own use or as a gift. Buy the one for you and tell me what you think!

Start drinking more fruits and vegetables by using a good quality blender.  You will feel better, and it's the cheapest solution to getting the right foods!  Get the one that's right for you.

Wow, the Vitamix blenders have a lot of different features. We currently own a Blendtec blender, but it’s about 6 years old and we may be due for a new blender. We use our blender a lot, so I can’t imagine being without one. We (both my wife and I) each make one smoothie per day, plus we use the blender for other stuff as well. When we first thought about buying one, I thought it was a lot of money for a blender, but it has been so worth it. Does the Vitamix blender have a glass or plastic container? I did notice the jar is dishwasher safe, which is a huge plus. Thanks for posting, this is very informative. I will definitely consider the Vitamix as we will soon be in the market again.

    • Hi Steve and Kris,  I am so glad to be helpful to you in deciding what blender you want to replace yours when the time comes.  The Vitamin container is glass.  Thanks for visiting!

Hello there! My mom loves to blend fruits and vegetables to make smoothies. She blends everyday to make fresh smoothies. Her birthday is coming up soon and I’m looking for the best gift for her. Thinking that she loves smoothies, a blender is really the best gift for her. I found your article very informative and helpful since I don’t know what’s the best blender. I will surely try to buy the vitamix e310. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for an excellent review. This blender seems to be super blender that can get the job done, I believe that every home should have a blender and not just any blender but  Ascent 3500 you are talking about.
It is just so amazing that there are so many things we can do with a blender – I really like your point about making my own smoothies instead of picking up one in the grocery…they cost so much even though they taste great.

    • Hey Norman,

Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment on my blender review.  The  Ascent 3500 is an amazing little machine, and it does save me a ton of money I would otherwise be spending on premade smoothies.  Plus I get to use only ingredients that are good for me, with none of the artificial fillers and sweeteners found in any but the most expensive ones already made.

Living in an RV, I have a space issue. I think this review has me going for the Ninja. They have a great reputation, although, Vitamix blenders are hard to beat. This was an excellent review, Josh. It helped me see so many aspects of what’s available. Thank you.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets
I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was
hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.

Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy
reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
